Appointment Order to 83 Junior Executive Assistants (JEA)

An Orientation Program (NIJUKTI PARVA) was organized on 28.08.2023 at Convention Center, Lokseva Bhawan for 83 Junior Executive Assistants (JEA) in Odisha Secretariat. Hon'ble Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik presented Appointment Order to the successful candidates recommended by OSSC.

Junior Executive Assistant (Odisha Secretariat) : FAQs

Recently online application has been invited from candidates for 130 posts of Junior  Executive  Assistant in Odisha Secretariat. Nearly 60,000+ applications have already been submitted till now. Although salary structure is less than ASO, still then candidates have ambition to join this cadre for different benefits. Here we can discuss in details about the job.

Cadre Restructuring & upgradation : 

Men in Position & Promotional Aspect : 
Based on Gradation List published by Home Department as on 01.11.2021 a good number of vacancies are there. So there is a better promotion avenue in this cadre. Last time only 42 Junior Stenographers were appointed whose contractual period of 6 years is going to be completed in October this year. After absorbed into regular establishment, they may get promotion to the post of Senior Executive Assistant (G.P. ₹4200) immediately.  So, the coming 130 JEAs of batch 2022 will get better opportunity in this cadre for their promotion easily.

Nature of Job : 
This is the cadre of Personal Assistant & Private Secretaries. Hence each of the employees of this cadre will be attached to some senior officers (OAS/IAS/OFS) for their official work. The workplace is inside Odisha Secretariat and the Home Department is the cadre controlling authority. 

Salary : 
Junior Executive Assistant comes under pay scale ₹5200-₹20,000 with Grade Pay ₹2400. But as an Initial Appointee, the first salary will be ₹14,200 per month.

  • The nomenclature of Junior Stenographer has been changed to Junior Executive Assistant. 
  • The nomenclature of Senior Stenographer has been changed to Senior Executive Assistant. 
  • Knowledge in Stenography and Shorthand is not required to appear examination. After joining, training will be imparted by Government by approved professional agencies

Syllabus and Plan of Examination :

1. (I) Language test in English and Odia (100 marks)
(a)English - Only working knowledge in English language (50 marks)
(b)Odia- Only working knowledge in Odia language (50 marks)

To test the working knowledge in English and Odia, the question shall cover correct spelling of words, filling the blanks by most appropriate words, to correct grammatical mistakes in the given sentences, to select the words with opposite meaning from a given group of words and to punctuate a passage.

(II) Typewriting Test in English (MS word) (50 marks)
The test shall be held for 10 (ten) minutes at a speed of 40 (forty) words per minute from a printed matter containing 400 words. The  candidate shall take a print out of the typed document, sign in on all pages and submit to the examiner.

(III) Test in Computer Applications (70 marks)
(a) Ms Office - Excel (25 Marks) 30 minutes
(b) Ms Office - Power Point (25 marks) 20 minutes
(c) Internet and e-Mail (20 marks) 10 minutes

MS Office - Excel : The test shall be held for 30 minutes. A printed table with Cell Formatting (such as Bold, Underline, Date, Number) and Formulas (sub-total, total, percentage etc.) to be provided to the Candidates. The candidate has to open MS-Office (Excel) and recreate the provided table to make an excel sheet. The candidate has to write the process of all formatting and formula used to get the resultant table on the print-out copy taken by him or her. All pages of the print-out need to be signed by the candidate and submitted to the examiner.

Ms Office - Power Point : The test shall be held for 20 minutes. A printed copy of Power Point presentation of 5 Slides will be provided to the candidate. The candidate will open MS-Office and prepare the same Power Point Presentation and get 3 types of print out (1 slide per page, 4 slides per page, outline view) of this presentation. All pages of the print-out need to be signed by the candidate and submitted to the examiner.

Internet and e-Mail : The test shall be held for 10 minutes. The candidate will use his or her e-Mail ID and send the soft copy of MS-word, MS-Power Point and Ms-Excel prepared by them during the recruitment test, as attachment to a particular e-Mail ID (provided by examiner). The candidate shall write his or her name and roll number on the subject area of the email.”
