History : On 7th August, 2008 Hon'ble Chief Minister out his signature of approval to pass a great order for creation of the Cadre Assistant section Officer. Consequently the cadre is really born vide Resolution 44874 Dt.30.09.2008.
Change in nomenclature:-
Junior Assistant & Senior Assistant --> ASO
Section Officer Level-II --> Section Officer
Section Officer Level- I --> Desk Officer
Group-B : The ASO post was initially under Group-C cadre. But GA&PG Department categorised different civil services vide resolution No. 18861 Dt. 08.07.2013 in which ASO post falls under Group-B Cadre.
Exclusion from Contractual Rules : Government of Odisha vide it's resolution No.4587 Dt.15.02.2014 excluded five cadres from contractual (Group-B & C) rules, 2013. ASO of Odisha Secretariat comes under this resolution. Hence Basic Pay along with DA and HRA are also being paid.

Joint Secretary : 1 years in Deputy Secretary
