31.05.2021 : Sri Chittaranjan Praharaj, Under Secretary and Sri Fakir Charan Sethy, Desk Officer of Works Department got retired from Government service today on attaining the age of Superannuation. As a tradition, a farewell ceremony was organised by Nirman Bibhag Sanskrutik Parishad in the Conference Hall of this Department. In view of current COVID pandemic in the state, this program was organised with only 8-10 Officers maintaining Covid appropriate behaviours.

COVID-19 outbreak in the country is still predominantly an urban phenomenon. However, besides urban areas reporting a large number of cases, a gradual ingress is now being seen in peri-urban, rural and tribal areas as well. In view of this there is a need to enable communities, strengthen primary level healthcare infrastructure at all levels to intensify COVID-19 response in peri-urban, rural & tribal areas, while continuing to provide other essential health services.

Ramesh Chandra Singh (53 Years) presently working as Under Secretary in School and Mass Education Department passed away. As per information, he was tested Covid positive and got admitted in hospital for last 15 days. He had taken both doses of vaccine also.

OJEE 2021 Application Form deadline has been extended, candidates can now apply for OJEE 2021 until June 15, 2021. OJEE 2021 Exam dates will be released post June 15, on assessment of the situation, as notified by the official circular.

Second dose Covishield not allowed before 12 weeks
The Government of India has now changed the minimum period between 1st and 2nd dose for COVISHIELD vaccine from 42 days (6weeks) to 84 days (12weeks). The changes will be effective from midnight of 14th May.
Those who have already booked online appointments for 2nd dose, are advised to reschedule their appointments.

It has come to the notice of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications that several misleading messages are being circulated on various social media platforms claiming that the second wave of coronavirus has been caused by the testing of the 5G mobile towers.
Recruitment for 400+ RI / ARI / Amin posts very soon
Government in Revenue & DM Department has requested all Collectors to file online requisition with OSSSC for the posts of RI / ARI / Amin in the newly created RI Circles of their Districts. As a whole, 433 RI Circles and 144 Minor Mineral Enforcement Cells have been newly created in the state and it is decided to fill up 40% posts initially. Hence, there will be recruitment for 232 RI, 174 ARI and 55 Amin posts by OSSSC.

Hrudananda Behera, 35 years, Assistant Section Officer, Tourism Department, Odisha Secretariat expired today (11.05.2021). Although his cause of death is not confirmed relating COVID infection, but he was in ICU for his serious illness.

Supreme Court strikes down Maratha Reservation Law
The Supreme Court on Wednesday struck down the provisions of a Maharashtra law providing reservation to the Maratha community, which took the total quota in the state above the 50 per cent ceiling set by the court in its 1992 Indra Sawhney (Mandal) judgment.

Sad demise : Debasish Pattnaik, Under Secretary, H&UD Department expired
Sri Debasish Patnaik working as Under Secretary in Housing & Urban Development Department passed away on 03.05.2021.
As per information, his leg had a fracture in the year 2019. Due to infection, yesterday he had an operation to take off the plate/rod from his leg. After surgery, he felt discomfort. He expired last night due to Cardiac Arrest at the age of 59.
OSS TODAY conveys heartfelt condolence on his demise and pray to almighty to give courage to the family members to bear the shock.
May his departed soul Rest in eternal Peace...
