Great loss to OSS Cadre : Com Jyoti Ranjan Mishra passed away

We are deeply sorry to hear about the passing of Shri Jyoti Ranjan Mishra, Section Officer (Home Department).  

Words fall short of expressing our sorrow for this loss. We can’t imagine the sadness his family must be feeling from this loss. OSS Cadre also lost one of its well wisher.

As per information, he was tested Covid positive around one month ago. He was admitted in Hi-Tech Hospital for treatment. Few days back he was discharged but later he developed some post Covid treatment complications and admitted to Care Hospital. He was undergoing treatment in Emergency Care Unit and under NIV (Non Invasive Ventilator). As told by Doctor, he was suffering from strong bacterial pneumonia after receovering from Covid. Unfortunately, he left for heavenly abode 4am today (21.05.2021).

His dead body has been sent to his native village Samantarapur of Keonjhar District for his last rights.

He was a genious, a sincere and law knowing officer of the Odisha Secretariat having a tremendous organising capacity. He was a committed worker of OSS Cadre and he always thinks of the betterment of other fellow members. My deepest condolences to his bereaved family for his untimely death. With heavy heart I  bid farewell to my ever loving younger brother for his last journey for the heavenly abode n pray almighty for his salvation.

With heavy heart I inform all that Jyotiranjan Mishra, Section Officer Home (OSS) Deptt has left for heavenly abode yesterday night at about 4AM. I have no words to express his sincerity, dedication, contribution etc to our Cadre. He was having a very good personality. He will be remembered always. Pray Lord Jagannath for salvation of his pious soul. Om Shanti.🙏🙏

The Man I Knew...

Sri Jyoti Ranjan Mishra, Section Officer, Home Deptt. passed away today morning.

For me, the loss is more personal than professional as he was the man I knew perhaps like no one else.

After more than a year, I am in whatsapp and writing this as perhaps I want ppl to know and remember him like I do, not otherwise as presented by few...

It took only 3 hours in that fateful evening of 2017 to convince (inspire) me to join him/ to follow him as my Leader.

He made me believe n inspired me in the cause of a unified OSSA irrespective of batch, cast, creed, senior, junior, mode of recruitment etc. He was well aware of the fact that he was recruited as an RA and the feelings ppl carry towards him for that, even his peers.  He was  well aware of the bitter divisions in OSS cadre on so many grounds but also in the possibilities for the cadre. I have seen his deep regrets for the things which couldn't have achieved in so many years of his career and also his hope in the next generation. I have also seen his disappointment when some of the promising figures in my batch were unable to understand the bigger picture n become slaves to their own ambitions.

He was... despite being one of the Most Knowledgeable person in the cadre, perhaps was one of the most hated figures by some who never have understood him and by some just because being an RA recruit and also being the most Loved one by many of us who got to know him personally.

In his short stint in my HFW deptt., I have seen him refusing an Addl. Secy. to give adverse noting against one of the fellow Desk Officer who once was trying to convince me against him as I belong to UR category n he being an RA. When I asked him why he didn't do it though I told him about his feelings, he said that whatever he might be, our personal feelings should not cloud our intention towards a fellow OSS brother. He taught me to keep dignity of OSS before other cadres.

Some of my friends told me few times that I am a blind follower of him, I would say that I would have followed him till the end of times, but unfortunately his time has come to an end before realising the dreams we shared together.

Words will never suffice. Today OSS lost one of its visionaries, and I lost my Leader, Mentor, friend and my elder brother.
