PICNIC PARTY - WORKS DEPARTMENT

On Sunday, the Cultural Association, Works Department of Odisha Secretariat, successfully completed their much awaited PICNIC Party to Nayagarh District. Nearly 100 Members started the journey in two buses  from the Indira Gandhi Park towards Nayagarh.

Disturbed beginning...
After completing a journey of almost 10 Km, near Janla, one of our buses hit a Goods Career Truck (A.P.) from behind. The front glass of the bus got crashed, causing minor injuries to near about 10 of our colleagues. Major injuries  happened to Sri Mahendra Mallick, Association Secretary and Laxmidhar Jena, Zamadar. The injured members were taken to nearest Janla PHC for treatment. Afterwards, another bus was arranged and the whole team restarted the journey.

Course of the journey
Our first halt was at Khorda IB for breakfast. Delicious preparation was done with Puri, Idli, Sweets, Egg, Banana etc. on the menu. After half an hour stay, buses rolled to Nayagarh IB for a few minutes refreshment. Tea-snacks with soft drink energized all. Finally, we reached our destination, the Kuanria Dam at 2:30PM. The arrangement made there was again above the mark. Starters like Sweet-corn soup with Paneer Pakoda for veggies and Chicken soup with Fish Fry for others were served.

The environment around the Dam was very much enjoyable. The lunch was mouthwatering with cuisines as Fried Rice, Dal Fry, Potalo Kasa, Dahi-Baigan, Chingudi Ghanta, Mushroom, Paneer, Fish, Mutton Curry, Vegetable chips, Papad, Sweets, Jalebi, Ice-cream.

In the return journey, we visited the Kuanria Deer park, the Raghunath Temple of Odagaon and the Ladubaba of Sarankul.

After all we enjoyed the trip.....

Works got 2nd spot in the group

Inexperience costs us the interdepartmental cricket series. Still in the last league match threat of Works Team was exhibited on the field as Parliamentary Affairs Team avoided the clash and remained absent. We got many positives out of the series e.z. excellent allrounder Maheswar Kishan, Dynamic Wicket Keeper Aswin Kumar Tiriya, Stroke-maker Rabindranath Marandi, unflinching Batsman Sambit Kumar Pattnaik, Fearsome Fast Bowler Anant Sarada Biswal.

High hopes are tied with the team for future achievements under the guidance of veterans like Skipper Prassan Kumar Das, Vice-captain Prafulla Kumar Sahoo and the wall of the team Byomaranjan Sethy.

All the best for future endevours !!!
