Publication of tentative gradation list of ASOs for the year 2020-21

After publication of tentative gradation list of Section Officers, Desk Officers and Under Secretaries, now the same for ASOs has also been published for the year 2020-21 by Home Department. The last batch ASOs joined in 2019 are also included in the list. Objections if any are to be submitted before 06.12.2020 by the ASOs in the list. Click here to download .PDF

A total of 1312 ASOs are now in the list whereas the sanction strength is 1564. 

NOTE: In the present list, the rank of many ASOs may differ by 1 to 4 as compared to their rank in OPSC result because of four new ASOs joined later based on Order of Hon'ble Court. The ranks of the those new ASOs were 102184, 289 and 776

As per the tentative Gradation Lists of ASO, SO, DO and US, the present position and sanctioned strength is as follows.

In near future, some ASOs may get promotion (in one time relaxation basis) as there is a huge vacancy of 445 posts of Section Officers. If so happens, there is a chance of recruitment in next year.

In view of the prevailing situation of the Covid-19 pandemic in the State, as a precautionary measure during the Fifth Session of the 16th Assembly, there will be RT-PCR test for all the members of the Odisha Legislative Assembly along with their PSOs & Drivers on the following days in the Assembly premises.

17.11.2020 : 8.30AM - 1.30PM and 3.00PM - 5.00PM

18.11.2020 : 8.30AM - 1.30PM and 3.00PM - 5.00PM

19.11.2020 : 8.30AM - 1.30PM

Foundation Day: Odisha Secretariat Building


The main building of State Secretariat Building was inaugurated by Sri Govind Ballav Panth, the then Home Minister, GoI on 12th November, 1959 in presence of Sri Harekrushna Mahatab, the then Chief Minister of Odisha. The construction was started in January 1956.

In the meantime, the said building is renamed as Lokseva Bhawan on 15th August, 2019 after announcement of Sri Naveen Patnaik, Hon'ble CM on 29.09.2019.

Notification was issued on renaming of Secretariat as Lok Seva Bhawan and the road from A.G. Square to Acharya Vihar Sachivalaya Marg as Lok Seva Marg on 05.12.2019.

Out of 39 Departments, now 10 Departments are shifted to Kharvel Bhawan and four Departments namely Agriculture & FE Department, I&PR Department, Tourism Department and Water Resources department are functioning in Separate Buildings.

PM renames Ministry of Shipping as Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways

The Prime Minister renamed the Ministry of Shipping as the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. 
He said in most of the developed countries the Ministry of Shipping handles Ports and Waterways. He added now with more clarity in name, there will be more clarity in the work.

UGC Guidelines For Re-Opening The Universities And Colleges

The University Grants Commission framed and issued Guidelines for the universities and colleges for reopening their campuses. These Guidelines have been vetted by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Education. The Guidelines may be adopted by the institutions as per the local conditions and directives of the Government authorities.
