Is it compulsory for new ASOs to open a Salary Account in Secretariat Branch ?

While attending document verification (which has been started today), many candidates may have been requested on behalf of two banks namely SBI and UCO Banks to open Salary Account in their Branches.

Out of the two banks, UCO Bank branch is operating since 51 years, and the SBI Branch since 17 years in Secretariat Premises. So, many of the employees of the Secretariat have opened their accounts in UCO Bank. Both banks have ATM Counters inside Lokseva Bhawan as well as outside near Gate No.5.

In current scenario, every person must have a Savings Account in any of the Nationalised Banks. Here we would like to clarify, whether it is compulsory to open an account in either of the Secretariat Branches ?

- Salary can be credited to any one of your Savings Account irrespective of Branch Location (inside or outside of the Secretariat premises) as per your declaration submitted to the DDO of your concerned Department.

- Although its not compulsory to open your salary account in banks of Secretariat Branches but as our job is Secretariat Centric, and we will work here for more than 30 years long service period, many of us prefer to operate our account from either of these two branches. Hence;

1) If anyone have Savings Account in SBI / UCO, they are advised to transfer their account to the respective branches in Secretariat. No need to open new account.

2) If anyone have Savings Account in any banks other than SBI / UCO, then they can open a new account in any of these two banks for easy correspondence with bank in working days.

3) If you are already in a job and have a salary account in SBI/UCO Banks,  you can transfer the account to the Secretariat Branch.

4) Afterall, everyone is allowed to open a fresh Salary Account in any of these two branches inside Lokseva Bhawan.

Bring your KYC to the venue and the bank officials will help you in opening your account on the spot.
