Announcements For Odisha Police

To strengthen Odisha police further, CM Mohan Majhi made the following announcements on the floor of the House yesterday:

1. Nine thousand motor cycles for ASI/SI/ Inspectors 

2. Creation of 1000 posts for traffic staff

3. Creation of 4000 post for OISF

4. Sanction of 10 ODRAF Team.

5. Budget provision of 117 Cr for Emergency Response System (112)

6. Permission to fill 2922 vacancies in different ranks in Odisha Police 

7. Permission to fill 1083 vacancies of newly created Special Security Battalion in Puri 

8. Permission to fill up 2298 vacancies of Home Guard 

9. Compassionate appointment to one member of family of Home Guard killed in line of duty.

10. One Out Post each for 10 Govt Medical Colleges

11. All support for anti-Naxal operations

Second phase of Assembly starts today

After a break from 1-19 August, the second phase of First Session of Odisha Legislative Assembly starts today i.e. 20th August.

On the first day, reports of Departmentally Standing Committee will be presented before the house and demands for grants will be discussed tomorrow onwards.

On 10th September, there will be appropriation bill on the budget for the year 2024-25 passed as per the schedule.

Budget Session of Odisha Assembly starts from 22 July

The first session of the 17th Odisha assembly will commence on July 22 with the address of Governor Raghubar Das and will continue till September 13.

Session Duration: 22.07.2024 to 13.09.2024

  • 24.07.2024 : Election of Deputy Speaker
  • 25.07.2024 : Presentation of Budget for the year, 2024-2025

Smt Surama Padhy elected as new speaker unanimously

DOB : 29 December 1960 (age 63)

Smt Padhy won the 2024 Odisha Legislative Assembly election from Ranpur Assembly Constituency representing Bharatiya Janata Party. She defeated Satyanarayan Pradhan of Biju Janata Dal by a margin of 15,544 votes. 

Earlier, she lost thrice from Ranpur, the last time in the 2019 Odisha Legislative Assembly election to Pradhan by a narrow margin of 4,251 votes. She is also a former minister of state for cooperation in the 2004 Naveen Patnaik BJD government which had an alliance with BJP.
