Bhubaneswar enters Top-20 Global Smart City Index
After topping the list of Indian Smart Cities in 2016, Odisha's capital Bhubaneswar, the only Indian city has now found its place in the list of world's Top 20 Smart City List-2017. Singapore has been placed at the top of the list in all the four categories. It noted that the country's 'Smart Nation' initiative and its position as a city-state makes it unique in its ability to execute its smart city vision.

Odisha Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik took various key decisions with focus on youth empowerment, public health, promotion of Odia language, drinking water and infrastructure development. Key decisions taken:
• 8000 'Biju Yuva Vahini' under Biju Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana to be formed in 6800 Panchayats & 113 Urban Local Bodies for nurturing leadership & volunteerism, promotion of sports & sportsmanship and healthy living among youths
• Odia signage made mandatory, all shops and establishments to change sign boards within 1 month. Web portal being created for monitoring the display of such signboards.
