15.09.2023 : The 64th Odisha Cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved a total of 19 proposals of 10 Departments.

Inauguration of Cuttack Netaji Bus Terminal (CNBT) on 16th September

Hon'ble Chief Minister of Odisha shall inaugurate the Cuttack Netaji Bus Terminal (CNBT) on 16th September, 2023. All buses will be operated from CNBT w.e.f. 17.09.2023 and the existing bus stands like Badambadi, Palamandap, Puri Bus Stand shall be defunct from 17th September, 2023. The buses shall ply from the earmarked bays of the CNBT to their destinations through different routes.

Fitment of Vehicle Location Tracking Device and Panic Buttons by 31st December

Transport Vehicles are to be fitted with Vehicle Location Tracking Device (VLTD) and Panic Buttons as per AIS 140 Standards by 31st December, 2023.

Objective : 

- To track & monitor vehicles plying on roads

- To ensure passenger safety (especially women and children) 

Types of Vehicles :

• All Public Service vehicles : Bus / Educational Institution Bus /Luxury Cab / Maxi Cab / Motor Cab / Omni Bus / Private Service Vehicle (Except Two Wheeler / Three Wheeler / Rickshaw) 
• Goods Carriage vehicle operating on National Permit
• Vehicles carrying hazardous and explosive materials
• Ambulances

Timeline : 

• New vehicles purchased on or after 01.10.2023 will be fitted with VLTD at the time of registration. 
• Vehicles purchased on or before 30.09.2023 shall have to be fitted with VLTD by 31.12.2023.

Sibo Sankar Mishra & Anand Chandra Behera were sworn in  as Judges of Orissa High Court today. 

Orissa HC Chief Justice Subhasis Talapatra administered the oath of office. 

Nijukti Parva : Appointment of 572 Principals & Teachers of OAVs

As many as 542 Principals and Teachers today joined Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas. Besides, 30 Principals and Teachers joined Odisha Mining Adarsha Vidyalayas making the total appointments 572 on a single day. A Nijukti Parva along with orientation was organized at convention centre in Lok Seva Bhawan for the purpose.

Deployment of ASO/SO to the O/o the Advocate General, Odisha

The Advocate General, Odisha has requested Home Department to deploy the ASOs of OSS Cadre to enable him to deal with the Government cases efficiently. Therefore, Home Department has requested all Departments to deploy an ASO/SO to the Office of the Advocate General, Odisha to deal with court cases pertaining to respective Departments for effective management of the cases pending before the Hon'ble High Court.

Government constitutes 8-member committee to examine ‘One nation, One election’.

Where as elections to the House of the People and Legislative Assemblies of States were mostly held simultaneously from 1951-52 to 1967 after which this cycle got broken and now, elections are held almost every year and within a year too at different times, which result in massive expenditure by the Government and other stakeholders, diversion of security forces and other electoral officers engaged in such elections from their primary duties for significantly prolonged periods, disruption in developmental work on account of prolonged application of Model Code of Conduct etc.

Composite Cadre (Legal Meterology / Market Intelligence /  Consumer Court wings) 

to form a single cadre called as 

"Odisha Civil Supplies Ministerial District Cadre"
