Group Health Insurance Scheme : Not compulsory but necessary

Day to day life is being complicated this time. Man made rules and regulations for social life are gradually being discarded by nature. Now trust is like myths. Death after birth is the only dominated truth in this world. Every relationship is also going to be proved fake. Because every one in this world is fighting with himself to survive. Irrespective of money, power, network all have to surrender before death. Now a days the YAAMARAJ, the so called God of Death has left everything upon human being. Very few percentage of us are dying on attaining old age. Maximum cases are being determined with a cause of death which is man made.  For example, Suicide due to depression in family / love / business / social dignity issues, Accident due to fault of own / others, organ failure due to inheritance / change in life style,  natural calamity like lightening, building collapt, earthquake etc, negligence in treatment due to money or by hospital, murder due to revenge or to suppress anyone etc. But God YAAMARAJ is not responsible for them.

The main theme of the above is that we all are now uncertain about status of our health as well as life. Although Covid-19 is being considered as the most harmful disease of this century, still then thousands of people have to meet unfortunate health conditions for which they have to spend a huge amount from their savings. It's also not possible for some people to meet the expenditure.

If we analyse the health scheme in India, there are near about 15-17 Health Schemes guided by both Central and State Government for common people as well as Government employees and pensioners.

GOVERNMENT HEALTH INSURANCE SCHEMES FOR EMPLOYEES

1) Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) www.cghs.gov.in

The Central Government Health Scheme is a type of health plan provided by the Central Government of India. Only Central Government employees are eligible for this policy. These include Supreme Court judges, Central Railway Board employees, etc.

2) Employees State Insurance Scheme
The Employees State Insurance was introduced in 1952 which protected workers (employed at factories) financially in case of illness, disability or death.

3) Telangana State Government – Employees and Journalists Health Scheme
This particular scheme has been made available by the Telangana government for the benefit of its employees and journalists. The health scheme is a cashless insurance scheme that can be used by current employees of the government as well as retirees and pensioners.

4) West Bengal Health Scheme

The scheme was announced by the government of West Bengal in 2008, and it aimed at providing healthcare to the government’s employees and pensioners.

5) New Health Insurance Scheme

The scheme was announced by the government of Tamilnadu and it aimed at providing healthcare to the government’s employees and pensioners.

In this section we will discuss about the Government employees only. Particularly most of Group- B, C & D employees have Life Insurance Policies like LIC, PLI and others for the safeguard of their families in case of any unfortunate death. But very few of them are coming under Health Insurance Scheme because of high premium.

Out of the Gross salary, the deductions come to nearly 20% in avarage employees towards NPS/GPF, Tax and Life Insurance premiums. Another 10-20% deduction in case of Mutual fund or Instalment of Loans (House Building / Personal / Car etc) or Instalment for advances (Festival / Motor Cycle / Computer etc) may be there.
Hence an employee can't think about individual health insurance scheme which costs nearly 25-35 thousands per annum. Again if we think about health insurance of family members, then it's beyond his limit. On the other hand, the worse situation of employees joined w.e.f 01.01.2005 on contractual besis is easily accessible.

But there is another option called Group Health Insurance Scheme which can be choosen because of its positive aspects comparable to individual health schemes.

The idea behind Group Insurance plan is providing risk coverage to people belonging to a same group. This kind of policy is generally provided by an employer to the employee.

In case of a Group health insurance, both the employee and the employer are supposed to be beneficiaries, because, this plan addresses both the parties in a group. It is the convenient health insurance plan which may be obtained by the employer and employee on diverse insurance amount and premiums. Health insurance plans come in various classifications every single organization and group health insurances are scheduled.

In conclusion, we can say that a government employee has full responsibility for his family members' protection. Similarly, every government should protect their employees to same extent. So there should be health insurance scheme for all employees and their families.
