ASO Examination has been conducted in fair manner : OPSC Chairman

Sri Satyajit Mohanty, Chairman, OPSC today addressed a press conference and described the procedure being followed during recruitment to Group-A & Group-B posts in different Services. CLICK TO WATCH VIDEO

Brief of Press Meet:

As per commitment to recruit nearly 4000 candidates in different Group-A & B posts in 2022-23, OPSC has already recommended 1545 candidates to be posted in different Departments.

  • Assistant Horticulture Officer
  • Assistant Agriculture Officer :  60
  • Veterinary Assistant Surgeon : 146
  • Odisha Civil Services : 392
  • Assistant Professor in Medical Colleges : 250
  • Assistant Professor in Colleges : 448
  • Insurance Medical Officer : 55
  • Odisha Judicial Services : 50
  • Mining Officer : 40
  • Post Graduate Teacher : 100
  • Assistant Sericulture Officer

Besides, recruitment process for rest 2500 posts in different services is going on.

  • Assistant Section Officer : 796
  • Odisha Education Service : 160
  • Odisha Civil Service : 433
  • Veterinary Assistant Surgeon : 455
  • Assistant Agriculture Officer :
  • Assistant Agriculture Engineer :

Transparency : Regarding corruption Sri Mohanty said, “OPSC follows a fair and transparent policy in the selection of candidates. Rickshaw puller’s daughter, a newspaper hawker’s son and daily labourer’s son had cracked OCS examination with flying colours. Had there been irregularities, these students would not have cleared the examinations. They did not have any reach.”

ASO Result :

  • More than 2 lakh candidates had applied for ASO Examination but nearly 1.5 lakh appeared the same.
  • While selecting for Skill Test, the qualifying marks in written examination was set at 40% for UR & SEBC and 30% for SC & ST candidates. Earlier, 2408 candidates were selected in this procedure.
  • Though, OPSC had to select 1194 candidates (1.5 times of 796 vacancy) but required number of ST Category candidates were not available. Hence only 1104 candidates have been selected to appear Computer Skill Test.
  • Candidates from 415 centers have been selected out of 433 centers.

Mark Sheet & Answer Key :

  • The marksheet and answer key will be uploaded only after the final results are out.
  • As per the High Court order, the 2016 norms will be followed.
  • Candidates can complain after the final result is out. If the allegations are true then action will be taken.

Clarification:

  • The Assistant Section Officer (ASO) examination was conducted in a fair manner and there has been no irregularities.
  • “Hard work is the only medium to achieve success. Instead of doing that, the ASO aspirants created a disinformation campaign and made the news viral which has no authenticity. This is not acceptable. We condemn it. I can assure students that necessary steps will be taken if they would find any kind of discrepancy after their results are out.”
  • “We will follow High Court’s directive and publish the marks of all the candidates who appeared in the examination once the final results are declared. Merit is the only criteria. OPSC has been following it.”

Story behind:

It is pertinent to mention that a lot of candidates took to the streets when there were allegations of irregularities in the ASO examination. The aspirants knocked the door of the Orissa High Court alleging irregularities in the selection process of the ASO examination conducted by OPSC. They even alleged that each post has been sold off for Rs 15 to Rs 20 lakh and some of the selected candidates were absent in examination also.

However, the High Court refused to intervene in the matter and ordered the government recruiting body to publish the marks of all the candidates who appeared in the examination.
