Rs 2000 banknotes will be withdrawn from circulation: RBI

Rs. 2000 Notes will continue as legal tender. 

Rs.2000 Notes can be deposited in account as usual.

Rs 2000 notes can be exchanged from May 23 till September 30, 2023 up to a maximum of Rs 20000 at a time. 

  • Rs. 2000 was introduced in November, 2016
  • Printing of Rs. 2000 Notes was stopped in 2018-19
  • Now Banks are advised to stop issuing Rs. 2000 Notes
