Parliament Budget Session 2024 : Time & Dates
The Budget Session of the Indian Parliament will commence on January 31, 2024 and is expected to conclude on February 09, 2024, as per an official Office Memorandum released by the Government of India. The Interim Budget for this financial year will be released on February 01, 2024 and no question hour will be conducted on that day.

In pursuance of orders of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in SLP NO.1302/2024 dated 19.01.2024, the selection and appointment, if any, vide Commission's Notice No.9552/PSC, Dt.30.12.2023 for recruitment to the post of Assistant Section Officer, against Advertisement No.26 of 2021-22shall be subject to final outcome of the aforesaid Special Leave Petition.

Odisha Cabinet Approves 14 Proposals
Cabinet Meeting 22.01.2024 : The Odisha Cabinet approved 14 important proposals related to 12 departments at its meeting.
Out of 15 agenda items presented, 14 proposals OF 12 Departments were approved and one remained for further discussion.

World Odia Language Conference is aimed at promoting the Odia language among the youth, with a special focus on promotion, preservation and propagation of the linguistic heritage.
Major reshuffle in IAS Cadre
The Odisha Government has effected a major reshuffle in the IAS cadre vide Notification issued by General Administration & Public Grievance Department in this regard today. In this reshuffle, total 38 IAS Officers and 03 Senior OAS Officers have been transferred and posted otherwise.
Out of them 03 RDCs, 03 Commissioners of Municipal Corporations, 17 District Collectors have been Transferred. Similarly, 10 Nos. of 2018 & 2019 batch IAS officers become District Collectors for the first time.

Conduct of joint hearing of grievances on 22.01.2024 (Monday)
The State Government Offices as well as the Revenue & Magisterial Courts(Executive) will remain closed for half day till 22.01.2024 (Monday) vide Revenue & DM Department Notification No.1999 dates 18.01.2024.
In view of this, joint hearing of public grievances in all Districts of the State shall be conducted at 2:30PM on. 22.01.2024.

January 17 declared as Government Holiday
The state government has announced January 17 as a holiday to facilitate people’s participation in the inauguration of Jagannath temple heritage corridor project at Odisha’s Puri town.
1,811 Saltwater Crocodiles in Bhitarkanika: Annual Census 2024
The population of saltwater or estuarine crocodiles (Crocodylus porosus) in and around Odisha’s Bhitarkanika National Park has reached 1,811 which has been marginally increased from last year figure 1,793.
